This year Chineham Park is proud to have partnered with three local Rotary Clubs namely: Basingstoke Loddon Rotary Club, Basingstoke Rotary Club and Basingstoke Deane Rotary Club, supporting them with one of their key Christmas initiatives.
The business park, which is owned and managed by Frasers Property UK, granted the Rotary Clubs full access to a unit on the business park, free of charge. The Rotary Clubs have used the empty unit to organise up to 800 shoe boxes that will be filled with Christmas gifts and distributed to children in Albania, Montenegro, Moldova and Romania.
The shoeboxes were filled with gifts including age related small soft toys, picture books, crayons, pencils, gloves, scarves, socks, flannels, toothbrushes & toothpaste, washbags, hair accessories and sports items. The boxes are filled by volunteers and local collectors, including schools, parents and family groups.
Nancy Apperley, Marketing Manager at Frasers Property, commented: “Basingstoke Rotary plays a vital role in bringing local businesses together to support with charity and community campaigns. The coronavirus pandemic has heavily impacted charity campaigns such as the shoe box appeal, so we’re pleased to be given the opportunity to help.
“At Chineham Park, and across our portfolio of business parks, we are continuously looking at new ways to support charities and communities and we look forward to working on future initiatives.”
The Basingstoke Rotary Clubs are a catalyst for many initiatives in and around the Basingstoke area. Over the years the group has raised considerable amounts for local as well as international good causes and provided practical support and assistance to many local events and activities.
Anne Watson, Project Lead for Basingstoke Loddon Rotary Club commented: “We are extremely grateful to Frasers Property for their support with this Rotary Project. The unit enabled us to work within a COVID safe environment to house, sort and check, and finally pack the shoeboxes ready for collection and delivery. The three local Rotary Clubs work together on different projects and the Rotary Shoebox Appeal was no different. Unfortunately, Basingstoke RC could not help with us sorting and checking this year due to COVID restricted numbers but did help with sourcing the premises and Basingstoke Deane delivered our shoeboxes with their own vehicles to the District Warehouse.”
