Community/ News

We’re encouraging our community to take advantage of #CycleToWorkDay on August 1, with a free drink from our onsite café The Exchange for everyone who jumps on their bike for their daily commute.

And if you haven’t got a bike why not take advantage of our free bike hire scheme – Ryde – promoting sustainable travel across the business park and beyond.

Our bikes are available for up to 72 hours, so you could pick it up the night before or enjoy a cycle ride around the park. You can even take one home for evening or weekend adventures.

RSVP on our park app – Pip – to take part and see T&C’s and to download our Ryde app to hire a bike.

The Benefits

There are so many benefits to cycling from improving your cardiovascular health, strengthening muscles and increasing flexibility. It’s also great fun and like all exercise it offers a mental health boost too!

These days cycling is also about the environment and creating more sustainable travel to cut down on emissions and reduce your carbon footprint. Not to mention the money you’ll save on fuel!

How to Get Started Cycling To Work

1. Plan Your Route: Choose a safe and convenient route to your workplace. Use bike paths and lanes wherever possible and consider routes with less traffic for a more pleasant ride.

2. Safety First: Always wear a helmet and use lights if you’re cycling early in the morning or late in the evening. Make sure your bike is in good condition, with working brakes and properly inflated tires. Our Ryde bikes are regularly serviced and when the Bike Doctor’s on the park, if you work on the business park, you can get your own bike serviced for FREE.

3. Dress Appropriately: Wear comfortable clothing suitable for cycling. If your workplace doesn’t have shower facilities, plan your ride so you can freshen up before starting your workday.

4. Join a Community: Find a local cycling group or encourage your colleagues to participate. Cycling with others can make the experience more enjoyable and provide extra motivation.

5. Take Advantage of Cycle to Work Schemes: Check if your employer participates in a Cycle to Work scheme. These programs can make it more affordable to get a bike and necessary gear.

Who knows, Cycle to Work Day could be the start of a whole new healthy habit!
